I finally decided to tackle my stripped headlight motor issue on my 1984 928s. I bought a new (used) motor and gearbox for my car, but looking back it said "1979-1983" on the shipping box. It appears identical even on the little inside disc that tells it when to stop retracting and going up.
After replacing my broken headlight relay, I now have this issue - the headlights go up and turn "on", but then they stay up and "on" after turning the switch off. If I turn the key "on", they go up and down as they should but still stay illuminated. Only by removing the relay can I get them to turn off.
I have the 4 wires attached on the motor's plugs 1,2,3,4 as "white, orange, yellow, red". Can anyone look at theirs and see if that is correct for my 84?
Any ideas as to why having the key on changes the operation? Is it maybe that I used the motor from a 79-83? I believe there are 3 different relays that have been used throughout the years but I don't know if the motor or disc changed. Thanks!!!
