Ahh. The object of our affection (Photo 1): the Porsche 928. This affection has now bound us together in formation of the 928 Owners Club. This, the first issue of our magazine, is reason for great celebration, for there has never been such a publication as far as I know since the original release of Project 928. Thank you for your leap of faith in the club. We are the front line!
Without sounding too much like the Academy Awards, I think it appropriate to to say thanks to those who have helped the Club and myself personally get this going past the "just a Web page" stage:
Leonard Laub (Co-Founder) - I met "LL" back on the old PorscheFans list and now he is our esteemed Editor. Matter of fact, Leonard kind of adopted me in a 928 way and became my mentor of sorts. It was only natural we'd become thick as thieves even though we've only met once face-to-face. I'm very glad to have "put up the good fight" as he suggested during my 32-v 928 search. I didn't find a black one though; maybe the next one (hint, hint)!
Kim John Crumb (Co-Founder) - I used to read and reread all of Kim's stories in Panorama. Never did I dream someday we would be working together to organize a specialty car club! Kim sent me numerous photos of his racing exploits, race calendars and results, newsletters - then his video hit my mailbox! I think my neighbors are still wondering how I got a racecar onto the 4th floor.
Phil Kalamaros (Charter Member) - Unbeknownst to me, there was a prior attempt at forming a 928-specific club. It's name was the lst&sc, the Land Shark Track & Street Club. Guess who was behind it? Phil Kalamaros, Kim Crumb, and Mark Anderson! Phil raced 928s when that was even more daring than today, and made sure everyone noticed (Photo 2). We're getting into some history here and with all of the above as our Charter Members; they've still got 928 on the brain as bad as any of us.
Mark Anderson (Charter Member) - The famous Mr. 928 and owner of 928 International! Mark very graciously allowed me to make available to the public all those fantastic 928 photos, some never seen before. His unsolicited Web site donation was heartfelt as well. Mark's a true 928 Top Gun and I'm very glad to have his involvement with the Club.
Susan Kirby and Marc Thomas (Charter Members) -
