Devek Performance. What more can I say here? For many of us, this is where it all starts, where Bob Devore, Lucky Ekman and Red McClintock had a plan. To be "the best dang 928 garage in town" to borrow a phrase. All 928 fans are invited to their shop in Belmont, California, home of the first ever annual 928 get-togethers. Not to mention the first officially timed 200-mph 928 - whew!
David Roberts (Co-Founder) - 928 Specialists. "D.R." has got to be one of the most dyed-in-the-wool 928 enthusiasts other than Lucky. Just look at the stable of 928s he's assembled; then note the work he's put in to create a super 928 business as well! D.R. is also the man behind the Club's Web sites. David also tirelessly helps those in need with car troubles, expecting nothing in return but the sheer joy of helping others and keeping sharks on the road.
Ed Ruiz (Co-Founder) - Your honorable Club Treasurer and event promoter. Ed's involvement with the PCA and now the 928 Owners Club speaks loudly about his passion for Porsche and high-performance driving. We're honored with his participation in our group.
And finally I'd like to thank Paul Bell in the U.K. Paul was the only respondent to my original request way back when for a club logo and it was this "original recipe" design that helped springboard current efforts to gather momentum for a 928 Owners Club. Logo #1 has since been retired by Philip Adamson's (Co-Founder) new logo [as seen at the bottom of this page - Ed.], but I will never forget proudly displaying Logo #1 at 928 day #1 all by my lonesome. I knew someday this Club would happen; just didn't realize how much work it would turn out to be and glad we all got together on it.
So, Charter Members, where do we go from here? Well, turning the page is a start (or scrolling down if you're getting this online). Enjoy, try not to dog ear this copy unless you get an archive copy! Attached is one more photo (Photo 3) from Phil's Files for your enjoyment. This one comes to us by way of Japan. The owner wishes to remain anonymous and let his 928 do the talking. Check it out, I think it will have us talking too... it's a GTS and yes, it's black too!
Thank you all, Charter Members; we couldn't do it without you. Keep those letters and photos coming!
