Starting out in first gear

I can only speak of the auto 928s that I have driven in (all US versions). Every one of them
started out in 2nd gear. Remember, the AT is a Mercedes Benz transmission. MB is notorious
for having their cars start out in 2nd gear unless the driver takes steps to make them start in 1st.
I've been told the reason the ATs start in 2nd has to do with meeting stricter fuel economy
standards. Most Porsche owners don't give a rats rear about fuel economy. If they did, they
probably would have bought a Deisel VW.

Anyway, the solution to the 2nd gear start is simple. Take out the slack in the throttle linkage.
Don't over do it or the car will hold 1st gear too long.
