Scratch Removal

While my pod is apart and my instruments are all over my kitchen... what's the best way to
clean the clear plastic cluster panel? It looks like, well, like years ago someone sneezed.... I've
tried the regular glass/window cleaner but it did nothing. Actually I wouldn't mind having a
new clear piece (probably costs a gazillion $'s). Any advice?

Try some Meguires Plastic Cleaner and Plastic Polish. We use it at my motorcycle shop to
clean scratches and hazing out of windscreens, and it does a great job. A company called
Novus makes a similar product.

the instrument housing /clear plastic part # 928 641 987 00 --1987 model--has a Porsche list
price of $82. It includes the chromed plastic parts and the light diffuser . The illumination
lights reflect inside a chromed plastic part , shine through a piece of plastic film similar to
microfiche material and bounce back from the front of the housing to illuminate the gauges
..over time the light diffuser plastic darkens and reduces the level of illumination for older 928s
it gets so dim that you wonder why they put a rheostat dimmer switch in the circuit , the panel
lights are never too bright.
