Hey hey hey , How was your holiday.

Mine is good so far as I go back to work on Tuesday the 28th, 29th n 30th then I get 3 days off again.
How cool is that.

It was awesome here on Christmas day well into the melting temperature.
Christmas evening it cooled right down and dropped 3-4 inches of snow.

I am starting to feel the need to get working on the car very soon
so that I get everything completed before spring.
It is going to be a tight year with the wedding debt needing to get paid off,
and the planned honeymoon trip money to brazil that we need to come up with.

But, ...
the things that I already have,
like the passenger seat gears to install,
the window switches to install,

the rear camera to install.

I have a GPS mapping module that I bought with the stereo that I never installed. :o

I have lots of wiring to clean up and a few simple repairs.

I need to extend my upper control arms out
and pull the lower BJ brackets in to get the alignment closer.
Let it be know that the 928 motorsports upper control arms are to short
and I will need about a 1/4 inch plate behind them to make them work.

I really need to get the sunroof repaired and working this year.
Oh, ya,
I have to come up with some coin for new tires, Hmmm

I like the way Brad gets the tire down to the fabric, ;). My 92 imported with Potenza's, and they will be done before too long. I have enjoyed a Very noticeably quieter ride on Continental Extreme Contact (fitted them to a 968) and figure that an all-season tire (with what I assume is a softer compound) does fine on what passes for a paved road in Alberta, especially given the annual average temp of ~0 Celsius. The Conti DWS is a decent price a places like Tiretrends.com...so here's my question;

Is there something unique about a 928's tire requirement that makes some brands ZR-rated tires not a good idea? If the OM calls out a ZR tire, is the body of knowledge pointing the 928-tribe to some other tire feature that is important? Biggest deal in Alberta is terrible pavement and cold ambient air, IMHO.

Hey Tim, I think you are asking what we can get away with for tires?
Well you are right to stay with a speed rated tire if you get close to those speeds. I have been up at the 260 kph and at 200 many times.
Malcolm lives out by Piece River and from Calgary that can be a fun fun.

So . . . I like to stay with a Z rated tire.
I tried the Yokohama S Drive and they were to soft for my aggressive style and I only got 4500 out of them.

what is on my car now was some used tires that came with the rims I bought off of Malcolm and they were great.

Hi Brad; thanks for the insight; I think you are right about the Michelin Pilot A/S, there are a lot of people who say they are very good. I'll keep these on my list, too. The Costco tireguy said he'd try to source them for me, though they are not a listed size.

Just my splendid luck today, a guy clipped my left rear quarter in a parking lot, then backed-in his land yacht opposite to my spot. My paint was still on his bumper...I waited for an hour and he finally showed up, admitted that he'd hit me. We exchanged info; seems a decent guy, retired, wants to settle cash, so I am off to the Porsche bodyman in Airdrie tomorrow. I'll need some dentless and a respray of the rear wheel "eyebrow" thingy.

The fun never ends...apparently I am not spending enough time in church or something. Best, Tim in Calgary

hi tim,

wrt tyres Ive tried many over the last 10 years and have found the Michelin brand to be best from wear, ride and grip capabilities.

I started with OEM rims 16" then had the 17" turbo twists that Brad now owns and now Ive the Carrera III 18: rims. PS2s are too soft and wear to quick, the regular pilot sports are fine in both 16 and 17" size but the hi perf All Seasons give the best of all worlds without the worry if one encounters poor weather.

I have the latest technology Pilot sports on the car now......very impressed. Prior to these the wheels were shod with stock contis as the wheels were of off a latest 911 model.....didnt like the contis at all.

where you at in Calgary......perhaps we can hook up :)
