I got this Email from the new owner about the transporter he used. I wish there was something that can be done.
Greetings George,
I am afraid that the carrier damaged the rear bottom go the car, probably loading it up as it is leaking gasoline, I do not know yet where is the leak located if it is a line or the tank. I noticed while the car still on the truck that the rear end was wet as I was looking at the rear end of the car. I know that I paid for insurance and would like to know from your experience what would be the procedure as I believe that the car was dried before leaving, do you write me letter stating that the car was not leaking prior to shipping…. the truck pulled of at unexpected location in town, not at the location that we had agreed on, where I would have the time to carefully inspect the car, but on a busy street where we had to move fast as he was blocking a couple of car from exiting their parking lot….
Sorry to bring this to you George, but the leak is really obvious, I put a piece of cardboard under the gas tank about 4 hours ago and the spot is about 8" in diameter. it is coming down sturdily….
No need to reply tonight it is already late and I apologize to email you tonight, I had a long day and wanted to get this out of the way as I have a crazy day tomorrow…
Sincerely.
Marcel.
I am in touch and sending him pictures showing the car in my WOOD FLOOR SHOP with $125,000.00 worth of cars parked in there also.

2nd email from him
I wish that I had the mean to record the brutal conversation as the driver was insulting me threatening to kill me as I did not pay him and drove off with the car, absolutely surreal story as he has me confused with someone else, despite a poor English his is swearing is perfect, as I am texting you I haven't got over what happen over the phone and the level of aggression that I went through. If he does not realized hid mistake claims that I did not pay him (he has my signature on his delivery log) I will bring this to a legal action.... I will keep you posted in the meantime I have your well appreciated pictures of the car next to very expensive cars and along with you letter I will get satisfaction. Absolutely unbelievable story isn't it...
Have a peaceful evening George

Two things.
The transportation company may have damaged the tank, you will need to get some good pictures of the bottom of the tank and try to identify where the leak is located.
Secondly, there is the chance that the tank strainer/pump gasket has just now decided to crap out. I had this happen on a customers car not two days after it was here for service.
This picture shows what the gasket actually looks like.
This image is hidden for guests.
When I took it out of this car it fell out as a powder. Sometimes they can can start leaking and the owner won't know it for a time as it will evaporate before it hits the ground. Other times it just goes and comes out fast.
Hope that helps.

His insurance info should be written on the side of the truck and he should be insured. I had a similar problem when the transporter dropped my Jensen as he was unloading it.
The best thing to do is to take photos of it being unloaded and what you have found and then call his insurance. They are slow but they will eventually get an adjuster out and settle.

From what Marcel, the new owner, has told me the DRIVER is the adjuster and I have NO IDEA how that is possible unless they are self insured.

His license info should be printed on the side of the truck and he can report him given that the guy threatened him and is refusing to give his insurance info.
If the buyer used a broker, he can contact the broker and get this information from him. These guys are pretty well regulated and the buyer has recourse.

No problem, whomever arranged the shipment (broker) should be able to get the US DOT number. If he has a name/contact number. He can probably look it up online. Have your buyer look here for more information
www.fmcsa.dot.gov/
Good luck.
