I was gonna give you crap about asking for bicycle wheels on a 928 forum, but decided I'd help instead! :)

The flat dish wheels from what I remember are relatively light. I would look at getting something like a CLW takeoff/replica set, or some Carrera IIIs. They make these cars look so much better honestly, and it's still a P-car wheel. If you look at my thread in the members rides section you'll see my CLWs on my '86. I run 225/295 respectively.

Of course, you could contact CCW or Fikse for some BIG money custom wheels. But, I have a feeling that you, like most of us, have a budget to try sticking to. In this instance if you want a nice looking, relatively readily available 18" wheel that will take YEARS off the look of your 928. Try the two I mentioned.

Just my recollection, but I think the flat slotted wheels are 20+ pounds, perhaps 22 or 23 if I have found the right memory cells.

Low 20's isn't TOO bad, but when you can 18" wheels that light, I suppose they're kinda heavy for what they are.

Is there a "928 Weights/Measurements" sort of thing we could sticky?

-EDIT - Just remembered there were the "Tech Spec" books Andrew hosted in the Technical Tips section...

Looks like 8.4kg (18.5 lbs) for the 7" fronts and 9.1kg (20.1 lbs)for the 8" rears.

I am starting that long arduous task myself. From what I have read, most OEMs are around 21-22 lbs. If you get 19-20 lbs rims...great. But I would not go above the OEM weight if I could help it. The 16 in slots are growing on me, but if i find the right wheel, I would not mind going to 17 in and maybe 7.5 wide in front and 8-9 wide n the back.

The only problem with that is i am real keen on tire rotation, especially with expensive tires. Different sizes prevent that of course. I wonder how many have issues not rotating? If properly aligned and balanced, I guess could be a moot issue?

My thoughts on the wheels were to steer out of what most other 928 owners had. I do want to give the car an update but also to make it look a bit more unique. and within a budget.
