Flat black looks like a dirty pipe IMO. Not so gloss...

BTW, the 'combined tip' on my S4 is welded on. I polished it in situ.

I think you shouldd paint them flame red ;)
I slid chrome tips from the parts store on.

I went gloss black using brake caliper paint. I think they turned out real nice. Better than the pictures show.
