Registry Update and Issues

This topic will track any updates that the site administrators make to the 928OC Registry and collect any problems, comments, or issues that Registry users have with the Registry.

As many know, the 928 Owner's Club Registry was created thanks to the generous donation by Chuck Zachman's of his 928 Registry. The 928OC Registry has been available in a development mode for about a year, with an import of the first tier of information from Chuck's database completed in March '14. OC Board members added their personal cars during the trial stage and a Registry Committee was formed to help with the content and format of the module, plus the task of moving over the second tier information from Chuck's site. The development stage ended with the roll-out of the Registry and new 928OC website in September '14.

To date, about half of the cars from Chuck's registry have their second tier information (photos, for sale ads, etc) moved over.

During the development phase we did an export/correction/and re-import of the Registry to clean up titles, colors, etc. In the process and unbeknownst to us, the ownership of the cars changed to the person running the import program. We changed that account to be the Registry Committee so that they could manage the cars from Chuck.

A month or so ago we discovered/realized that the cars already in our Registry got caught up in the import sweep and the records for those cars lost their 'owners' in the Registry. Yesterday we did a comparison of the before and after records so we now know the previous owners and we have started the process of reinstating their 'ownership' .

Known issue - if you use MACs or IPads etc. to try and access the Registry tab after you login to the site, you may get a strange login pop-up.
You can cancel this and still see the Registry. This seems to happen due to Safari.

Using the Dolphin browser for iPad does not exhibit the same behavior I have found.

For your MAC you can use Firefox instead of Safari as a work around. It works as I just tested it.
The admins are aware of the issue, just no quick fix yet.
