New Member - saying hello was created by mm928
Hi all,

I just joined and wanted to say hello. I could not be more excited and pleased to be the proud owner of a car I have wanted for many years. It just sort of feel into my lap and I knew this was the move to make, it just felt right. I have enjoyed (and used) the forums along with Rennlist and 928Forums and have stated to purchase a few things to get started from some of the vendors posted and referred to in the forums. So far every board or vendor has been friendly and prompt and a pleasure to deal with.
On to the part most of you folks are interested in:

928 - 1983S 4.7L L-jet - Auto - VIN WP0JB0926DS861180 - Model 928910
Bonus - I have the original Window sticker and I scanned it in as well.
Mileage was 97,134 when purchased, fairly normal, especially at the beginning, but I have a few small oil leaks and a small tranny leak. After 2 weeks in the garage I have a few small drip spots. Does not look too major right now, but I fear it will take a lot of work (hours$) to fix them, especially one near the back, these engines are packed in there!

We (my friend/mechanic who sold it to me) have done the usual suspects things (along with the new wiring harness of course, new ground wire and a few other electrical gremlin fixes) like new timing belt, new dist cap, new spark plugs, new coil, new CV boots, 2 new tie-rod ends. The deal was it had to pass inspection (at his cost) before I would buy it.

Ok I think that is quite enough for now......thanks for having a place for me to go to find info, friendship and events, oh yeah, and PARTS :D

Will put my info/pic etc. in my sig later tonight or tomorrow, will also try to attach the pics I took today

Wow, cool, Nice Buy.

Low milage and the pictures look great.

I know how happy you are as it was not long ago when I got my first 928 Porsche. he he I own a porsche.

Well In a year from now you will still be going, I didn't know that, or what dose this do, or where do I look for the alarm module or something like that.

Enjoy the car as it will be a long project and will not always go as planed.

Put all that great info in you sig and start a profile thread just about the gen thread.
BTW what is you name friend.

Brad

Mike,

Looking at your screen name are you a guitar player?

Brad and I both play as well.

I mostly play hand built custom guitars from either Kevin L. Pederson Guitars or Forshage Guitars... been playing my Forshage mostly of late though (VERY ERGONOMIC and sits in my lap PERFECTLY!)

Here are a couple of shots of my current babies:

I was looking through the member profiles the other day and it is incredible how many play guitar as a hobby. I have a fender stat, epiphone guibson Less Pauland a couple of acoustics. We could have a hell of a jam session at the next shark gathering.

There are more guitar players these days than EVER as well as some of the best guitars being built by some of the best Luthiers ever! It is a great time to play guitar...nearly as good as it is the time to own a 928, but not quite!

Awesome PICS - very cool and beautiful guitars.....I am sure they play great as well.

Yes, I do play - I currently play a PRS Mira Maple Top and have an 83 Us Strat in Red w/ white Pickguard and a Peavy Bass. I do love the PRS, and since I am close to MD I go to the factory every year for a fun day of guitars and music. Great to know !

Sorry about the name - I updated the Sig later - Michael Murphy - yeah, Scotch/Irish through and through....used to have red hair too!

Guitar Pic is posted on down further - just scroll - Thanks James,,,,

Thanks to Jim, here is my PRS Mira Mapletop.
I play almost every week in our Church praise band. My Amps are an Egnator Rebel 30 combo and Vox AC15, both all tube. I use TC Electronic, Vox, Joe Meek and Meat pedals and currently LOVE Thomastik-Infeld Power-Bright strings (10-45s) - if you have not tried tried them....do it! You can get them online for a decent price at JustStrings.com. Awesome sound (bright) great with effects and are coated with bronze and last a LONG time without deadening your sound like other popular coated strings.

Is this a 928 forum>>

Ok back to business - I got the alignment today yippee! - Donald B Rice Tire in Culpeper Va. They have a pit, were able to get it in spec (except .1 in 2 places) and it cost....ready....69.95. They used to be Rosson and Trollio. Joe Trollio used to be a mechanic on an Indy Car team (he is 90 now) and his daughter helps run the office. Apparently they have decades of experience with alignments and many bring cars from far away to have then done here. They even aligned the Indy and other race cars in the shop (back then). They are the only place my friend can take his Hummer.
So I am happy as a clam and now I can take the "haifische" out for stroll on our local twisty to check it out a little.

Again - thanks for being so welcoming and I am happy to be here! I look forward to meeting some of you at an outing sometime.

The shop I trust in town to align my 928's is $150 so you got a GREAT DEAL on that one! Well done!

I play every Sunday w/ my church praise band (if you are on Facebook you can follow us at Holy Mackerel...go "like" us there!) I use a Roland VG99 and drive it with built in RMC p/u's on my three primary guitars (Red Ergo, Crucifixion and The Last Supper)...with that unit I can get any sound combination I want as well as combination's that are otherwise impossible. Also, since I am in a wheelchair and can't use my feet to work pedals this device is PERFECT for me!

Welcome Michael to the land of 928s, looks as if you have a nice model.

Feel free to ask any 928 question you have no matter how trivial you may think it is.

I too play guitar; Gibson Les Paul, Guild acoustic and Jasmine 12 string lots of fun

Man, we sure do have a lot of guitar players here!

My acoustics are an Alvarez 25th anniversary that I have had since about '92 I think and a Collings SJ cutaway. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Collings! On the electric front in addition to those guitars above I have a Fernandez Stormtrooper Star Wars guitar, a Fernandez Nomad Boba Fett Star Wars guitar, a Parker Fly Classic (the original w/ the transparent finish and came in the hardshell case), Roland G-707 and the GR-700 guitar synth, another Abyss (now Kevin L. Pederson Custom Guitars) Ascension and...I think I am leaving something out... Oh, I have one of the more recent (and fairly cheap) Playboy guitars, but I can't remember who they are made by...

Don't play the Playboy or Stormtrooper guitars for church! LOL!

Michael,

Thanks for the kudos on the DVD...it was a labor of love! As to the rest of the stuff, well that is thanks to the 928 Owners Club!

Mark is THE MAN!!! He is such a good driver it really is staggering... He LOVES to start at the back of the field and work his way through it. When I was putting the DVD together I remembered seeing a youtube video of him doing that so I emailed him and asked him if he had the raw footage and if I could borrow it for the DVD... He said, "which race was it. I do that A LOT." LOL! I was like, "Send them ALL!" He did and I went through 9 HOURS of his race footage to find the 15 min you have in your hands there!

Anyway, glad you like it all and so glad it got there!
