1986.5 928 S

I am trying to remedy this issue but I am not having much luck.

Grounds overall are good.  Car runs fine.  Headlights work but do not pop up.  Brake lamp warning is on and brake lamps do not light up when pressing brake pedal.  Also the power windows and sunroof do not work,  This was an intermittent problem where they all work or they all do not work.  Now they do not work all the time.  Fuses are good,

I am not sure what these systems have in common and where I should be looking.  Any ideas?

The window relay is common to both windows and the sunroof. Replace that relay.( Relay VI) The correct part number is 928.615.126.00.

Raise your headlights by turning the headlight motor. It could be that you just ended up on a "dead" spot on the commutator of the headlight motor.

Thank you for the info, I'll give it a shot. But the problem is all of these items at once (brake lights, windows, sunroof, headlight motors). It is all the same issue because when one of these items works, they all work. When one does not work, they all do not work.

Is there a relay I can just move to relay VI just to try it out?

Look for battery voltage at the X bus, which supplies the clients you list plus the fog lights.  Easiest place to test is at the top of fuse 14 (I think...) or at terminal 86 at the relay lives in position IV in your central electrics panel. Test with headlight switch on The X-bus in your car receives power via the ignition switch when the key is in RUN position (II) only.  In later cars, the X-bus relay assumes more of load off the ignition switch.  You can try reseating the connector on the back of the ignitions switch, but generally the ignition switch is the culprit. If you need to replace that switch, be sure to buy one from a reliable source.  There are knockoff switches that are less than durable, so shop carefully.

It was indeed the ignition switch.  All is well now.  Figured it out a while back but thanks for the reply.
