Hi Guys,
I’m a newbie with a 1986.5 5 speed, 59,000 miles, black with a can can red interior. Unfortunately, over the many years I’ve owned the car, unfortunate events have happened. When it’s running, the car runs very well. But, the passenger mirror got broke off, the rear hatch lock won’t open, the air conditioning has a leak somewhere and I need to get a new dashboard done (not relevant to this post).
Anyway, I’m thinking that in order to get it all fixed (mirror, air conditioning, and rear lock), I will need the shop manuals. I have a good mechanic but I think he would need the shop manuals and doubt that he has such.
So my first question is: Do I need a set of the 1986 or the 1987 shop manuals? (given it’s an 86.5);
Secondly, where can I find the 4 manuals at a decent price ($400-$500);
Thirdly, has anyone had the back hatch lock issue; whereby, you can rotate the key but the hatch won’t open? This is the first thing I want to get fixed as I can’t get to the battery and therefore, the car is just sitting. So, any advice on how to fix that back lock would be also greatly appreciated. I just can’t get to it from the rear area.
Lastly, a long time ago, I had a Porsche 928 mechanic in SC try and find the air conditioning
leak. I also had my local mechanic try and find it. No luck with finding it. What would you recommend to find the leak?
I also appreciate your patience with my long post. Maybe I should have made the questions each an individual post topic. But I decided that the experts on the forum could address each question. Thank you!
