I bought this because it needed a new home.
It didn't start when I bought it, but I have since started it, although it does not idle well. It is fairly complete, but needs mechanical work and paint (to resolve the paint damaged by sap on passenger side).
A prospective buyer checked with the prior mechanic (David Lloyd) and provided the following information:
>>>>>
David Lloyd remembers this 89. He said the owner brought it into him when he bought it in 2006.
They went through the car and did the major services to get him started on the right foot.
He said later the car began to have some electrical issues they couldn't get sorted out and was causing the rough idle.
The owner got tired of putting money into it and parked it.
>
Another prospective buyer reviewed the car and noticed the driver door seam to the front fender is not consistent, and there is evidence of some paint spray in that area, so there is reason to suspect body repair in the past.

Wish I could help you out Stan. I'm sure someone will want it. I know Mark wanted an OB but he might take an 89.
No rush, I am hoping to find a good home for it rather than someone who might take it apart.
You never know I could suddenly have too much time and be working on my cars again

If it runs does it drive, shift through all gears, stop etc etc?

I haven't done anything other than start it and have it run *very rough* for a few seconds.
928gt.com lists the possibility as 2.54 or 2.64 for the automatic. As the ROW manual is 2.54, I suspect the 2.54 would be ROW and so this U.S. '89 automatic would be 2.64.

If I was any closer...I would have it on my trailer...I wonder how long I'd be in the dog house for that one...
GLWS, looks pretty good, and at that price it is a steal
You can be a mechanic or technician...The choice is in HOW you fix it, not THAT you fix it.

Sorry Stan, I wrote and then rewrote an offer but the logistics would kill the deal.
Wont waste anymore time.
I understand. I am looking for a tractor, if I find something in your direction that is the right opportunity, I will let you know, but I know it isn't likely.
I have a 640 Universal 4 wheel drive with a front loader.........now if we could magically make the swap happen

Hi Stan,

How many miles on the 89?
Thanks
Brian
I will try to get a jump pack on it this weekend and check the actual mileage, but I think it may be in the low 80s.

The longer story is the buyer started a facebook chat about my facebook advocacy of Ron Paul. The deal was made shortly thereafter.
The buyer is a prior 928 owner and will revive the car!

NICE! I like Ron Paul too btw, but most of his foreign policy ideas are WHACKED OUT! There is no such thing as isolationism these days! This world is global (if that is not redundant enough) and he does not seem to understand that... Do we need ALL the bases that we have in foreign countries? Probably not. Do we need to give BILLIONS and BILLIONS to other countries? Probably not. But I fear RP would just cut it all off if he could and that is NOT the way to go... Anyway, maybe Rand Paul will be ready to rock soon...I think his foreign policy ideas are a bit more mainstream and I think he is still the fiscal conservative that his father is...
Wanting to have free and open trade with all friendly countries is not isolationism. While wanting to force all other countries in the world to adopt our culture is empire building, and I would argue is a form of isolationism. Our foreign policy has *not* produced the purported results for decades. We *have* caused other countries to fear and despise us. I am fond of the map showing dozens of US bases on both sides of Iran, with a comment along the lines of "we claim they are threatening us?".
Don't be fooled by the industrial military complex that wants the US to continue spending to sustain them. We should be a country of peace, setting an example, not a country of war, persisting invading sovereign countries.

"Replaced the battery, through some fuel stabilizer in it and some fresh gas and it started right up. Run's a little rough but not bad. Nothing an injector cleaning and MAF won't fix."
and
"Lights on when they should be off and vise verse. That is easy stuff for me. AC seems to work both front and back. Nothing so far can't be sorted."
and finally
"Everything will get sorted in time."
