Beginning mid-February 2026 many Porsche 928 parts will be available for sale.  I found the head gasket in my 1979 red street 928 is externally leaking oil at the left front side (no leaks into the cylinders).   I decided to make a major swap, move all the good bits from my 1979 Euro track car to this red 928 1979 chassis.

The work will be done at Exotic Motorwerks in Scottsdale, AZ.  Exotic can rebuild and reconstruct take-off parts if desired.  Please make contact at this EMAIL: electronikrepair@earthlink.net for pricing and availability.

Many used parts from both cars will be available for purchase.  If there is interest, I’ll assemble a full A/T to 5-speed manual (Limited Slip) conversion kit.  It will directly fit the 1978 – 1979 928s.  With the use of the 1978 – 1979 rear cross member P/N 928-331-131-17 and 928-332-033-30 axle shafts installed this 5-speed drivetrain will fit into a 1980 or newer cars.  As the work progresses, I’ll have a full list of available used parts.

The track car tub (rolling or non-rolling) has stripped interior, two racing seats (need reupholstering), two 5-poing harnesses, no door windows but light weight Lexan rear windows and hatch window.  This would be great to get a wrecked track car back in use.
Other than the head gasket failure (external oil leak, left front), the red car 1979 4.5-liter M/28-3 engine is in fine shape and is available either as short or long block.  The condition of the engine is good, no oil consumption.  In the Phoenix Arizona area, we have IM240 emissions testing post catalytic converter at the tailpipe.  For the loaded reading, the powertrain is under dynamometer load.  The May 23, 2024 test results were loaded roller across RPM range HC PPM 15 (220 allowable), CO% 0 and idle readings HC PPM 40 (220 allowable) and CO% .003 (2.0 allowable).
