I need a 1989 shop manual.

Roger is sending me the CD, which I hear has way more then a paper manual.

Brad.......what you need and understand is:

Porsche created the workshop manuals (WSM) in 7 vols that cover the early model years. The WSM binders are maroon in colour and were available to dealerships. The WSM was supplemented with booklets that are specific to each model year of the 928 and they work in concert with the WSM. Thats why the WSM covers most aspects of repair and specifics are in the booklets so you need both and be able to flip from one to the other.

The WSM was expanded as more model years were built so that the latest WSM gre to 9 volumes and are grey in colour. Again this WSM was available to dealerships and supplemented by booklets. If you have this WSM you dont need the earlier version as the latest version includes all.

To complicate matters further Porsche didn't repeat themselves in their booklets. If a procedure was explained for an earlier model and that same procedure required for a later model it was NOT included in the specific booklet for the later model. For the home mechanic it meant owning the latest WSM and all booklets so all proceedures are covered.

Then came the CD's by Jim Morehouse. The CDs have eveything, full latest WSM, the Posche parts catalouge PET, all the booklets for all model years, The Holbert land speed record run at Bonneville and much, much more.

Once you get the CD's Brad read everything then you'll not need to post here or Rennlist.........yeah right!!!

ha ha but posting is half the fun and where I waste most of the time that I should be working on my car.
I more then likely took at least the better part of a year for me to figure out what you have just told me, that is why I am waiting for the CD that I ordered a few weeks ago.
Roger is waiting for a new shipment, so I wait as well.

One thing the CD will not tell me is the experience that you and the rest of the owners share. Learning from someone's experience is can be very cost effective

I have hard copy 9 vol set WSM, some hard copy booklets, the 4 set CD's and going into my 10th year of 928 ownership of doing all my own repairs and maintenance and I still post questions.

Always something new to learn
