Hi Guys....
Happy Sinterklaas... My apologies for not posting much. I am a little of a recluse. I work from home and stay there. Living in the Aussie Bush make it easy to lose contact.
I found this:
newatlas.com/aston-martin-heritage-ev-co...utm_term=Read%20more
Jaguar have made an Electric E-type.
I may be stuck down in flames… but wouldn’t it be cool if Porsche did this.
If it is something we like, perhaps the group could approach Porsche. No point in contacting Porsche Australia – no one takes us seriously anyway. I am a realist, if it comes from the good old US of A the Germans may take notice.
Anyway, just the rambles of a grumpy old bloke in the country.
Dan

There have been multiple 928 conversions where a Chevy motor has been installed, so adding an electric motor would not be so different.
The bigger issue would be placement of the batteries. Preserving the 50 - 50% front/rear weight balance should be a major goal. Would they all be stuffed under the hood?

Mate - Thank for the reply.
Good point about the batteries.
Perhaps Porsche could help. But as batteries are becoming more energy dense, it may get easier.
Crossing fingers...something happens. I love the real Porsche motor, but with fuel at AUD1.75 a litre, it is expensive. I have PV so it is not a big stretch - aside from the cost of the conversion...ha-ha

Hi Dan,
maybe meanwhile you found the Porsche Taycan to do the job ... it was designed especially for this purpose ...
About 8 Years ago I tried to convert a 1988 S4 into an electric car, but had too many problems getting the engine (about 250kW) properly into the chassis, as its torque could not be handled without having enforcements of the complete rear part of the car ... this got the total weight up so much, that the additional batteries necessary to make at least 200 miles distance had further impact on weight ... in total this was more than 2.900 kg net (without driver) ... so project was shut down even before having mayor tests on the street ...
Kind regards from Germany
Stephan

There is a great playlist here on a guy in Australia doing an EV conversion on a 928 using MG running gear.
