NEW 928 OWNER was created by elipper
I do not own the car yet but the seller and I have agreed on the price after about 45 days of discussion.
The 928 I am buying is a guard red 1993 GTS with a 5-speed. It has 20,000 miles and is unmolested. By my vision it looks like the only modification to the car is that the original radio head is gone and replaced with an Alpine unit. I also think the underside and wheel wells of the car were dry ice detailed because it is too clean. The seller purchased the car in 1996 from a Porsche Dealer in Dallas, Texas and has owned it ever since.
The car is going to need belt/waterpump/hoses and general service and I am prepared to have that done. Hopefully the AC works correctly and the vacuum system is functioning correctly. I am new to 928 ownership but not Porsche ownership as I have a very nice 930 turbo. I am a broad based collector and I am interested in all sorts of cars. The 928 has been on my radar but I have wanted a guard red, GTS and a 5 speed and so this has taken a while.
I have restored several cars in my life from ground up so I know my way around the parts, pieces, and cosmetics. I have not seen it in the flesh but the interior and exterior photos are as good as I have seen. My plan is to inspect the car myself and between here and Rennlist I have seen most of the tips and tricks. With that said, if anyone has any advice on what to look for, check, or test on a 1993 GTS with a 5-speed I am all ears.
This car was last seen by a Porsche dealer about 3 years ago but my sense is that its last trip was to deal with a no-start/fuel line issue. The low miles on this car can be both a blessing and a curse. I am well aware that it is going to need a lot of service and it may even still be riding on its original tires. My price on the car is strong so if I buy a pig this will be a mistake but if it is a good car then I will be ok.
The picture of some of the cars potential roommates.

Welcome Elipper,
A very nice collection you have there and I can certainly see where a Guards Red 928 would fit right in . I have an '88 Guards Red myself, so a little biased towards the color.
Hope the sale goes smoothly for you!!!
Cheers,
Nick

I edited the lead subject because the deal is done and the car is now mine. It is with Mo Zahr in Wichita getting serviced. There were not a lot of gremlins on this car but it definitely needed the belt service.
